Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the team - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton head coach - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club directors as they start the search of appointing a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
