Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
